Good News Mission was founded in 1950 as a rescue mission for homeless men. GNM is dedicated to proclaiming the Gospel to the disadvantaged people of the inner city. Our aim is to establish people in Christian living while extending assistance of shelter, food, clothing, medical care and educational/employment opportunities. The ultimate goal is to help needy individuals and families achieve independent living with a reliance on God. No person is denied services based on race, creed, sex, disability or national origin.

In 1983, Good News Mission moved to its present location at 2716 E. Washington Street on the near east side. It is located in the midst of one of Indianapolis' poorest residential neighborhoods, unlike the other major homeless men's shelters in the area. Due to the great needs of the surrounding community and our desire to help all of those who are disadvantaged, we felt there was a tremendous responsibility and opportunity for Good News Mission to offer vital human services for needy women and children, as well as homeless men.

In the past several year, Good News has expanded its services to include a FREE, symptomatic and preventative Health Care Clinic, an inner-city Youth Center, a transitional Family Shelter for entire homeless families and a 145-acre campground for disadvantaged children statewide. In 1996, Good News Mission, Inc, became known as Good News Ministries (GNM) to more accurately reflect our community outreach to needy children and women, as well as homeless men. Good News Ministries provides the following community service programs for needy men, women and children.

GOOD NEWS MISSION (1950)- A 81-bed rescue mission for homeless men providing shelter, food, serviceable clothing, educational opportunities, health care/education, as well as substance abuse, employment and spiritual counseling.

GOOD SAMARITAN HEALTH CLINIC (1992)- This program provides vital preventative health care/education and medications, at NO CHARGE, for our Mission clients, Family Shelter residents, and Youth Center children. These services are also open to the working poor families and uninsured that live in the surrounding neighborhood. This is a "patient friendly," easily accessible health clinic.

GOOD NEWS YOUTH CENTER (1993)- Provides daily assistance with child development for "working poor"/single parent families living in the area and our Family Shelter residents. Children come to a safe, drug/alcohol/tobacco free environment daily to receive assistance with their homework, computer training, a nutritious meal, supervised recreation/activities, Bible studies and special field trips. They and their families also have access to food, clothing and health care.

GOOD NEWS FAMILY SHELTER (1998)- A 10-unit long-term, transitional housing program for homeless families providing a completely furnished apartment, food, serviceable clothing, educational opportunities, healthcare/education, as well as substance abuse, employment and spiritual counseling. In addition, residents receive training in parenting and other life skills to better care for their family.

FIVE STONES CAMP (2008) FIVE STONES ACADEMY (2014)- Five Stones Camp located on Cagle's Mill Lake near Cloverdale, IN. Troubled inner city boys ages 13-17 participate in our 40-day residential summer camping program designed to rescue them from the negative influences of gangs, drugs, neglect and domestic violence. This program helps them become responsible, mature, independent young men through spiritual, educational and vocational training.

Upon successful completion of our 40-day intervention selected young men enter our 9 Month residential academy program that includes complete Christian education, vocational training and leadership development. This program is developed around teaching quality work ethic, biblical training, teamwork development and life skills in a structured living facility. Our mission, vision and passion is to train at-risk teenage boys to turn away from their destructive lifestyles and to embrace the responsibilities that come with true biblical manhood.
