The National Down Syndrome Society recently recognized Angie Cain, a dedicated Down Syndrome Indiana friend and volunteer, with the NDSS Self Advocate of the Year Award at this year's Buddy Walk® on Washington on Wednesday, February 27.
NDSS self-advocates are volunteer advocates with Down syndrome who serve as liaisons between NDSS and their communities to raise awareness, educate and advocate for public policy solutions that benefit the Down syndrome community at the federal, local and community levels. Angie fits that description to the T! She has been an employee at Kohl's for 8 years, she has volunteered with Down Syndrome Indiana for 7 years, and has worked for the last 7 years at her local YMCA. She was also recently appointed the Buddy Director for the Butler University Chapter of Best Buddies. Everyone at Down Syndrome Indiana is so proud of her and thankful for her contributions to the community!

Down Syndrome Indiana is thrilled to be the host organization for the National Down Syndrome Congress's 42nd Annual Convention, to be held in Indianapolis this July!
There are more than 700 volunteer positions available throughout the fun, family-friendly weekend. It's a BIG number, but we are confident that we connect with hundreds of volunteers that cannot wait to show to the world the true meaning of "Hoosier Hospitality."
